PISTON RINGS |
In our effort to improve the effectiveness of
our piston skirt and crown coatings, we developed coatings which aid and improve
performance in competition applications.
Primarily aimed at batch users of piston rings we can now
offer the following surface treatments :-:
- Apticote 1010 is a unique form of
ultra-hard carbon, deposited from a reactive chemical vapour at up to 400°C. It provides
a combination of high wear resistance and low friction; properties which are not usually
found together. Apticote 1010 is one of the many types of Diamond like coatings available,
but many have been less than successful in the heat of competition. After extensive trials
and research we believe our Diamond like coating to be the best on the market. With its
extremely low friction and high hardness, together with it's ability to be put on many
different substrates, it is the design engineers dream.
- Apticote 1080 is a titanium nitrided
based coating and is first choice in the field of motorsport for piston rings. We have
extensive knowledge in all of its running properties for competition, and have scientific
data regarding wear, and friction characteristics
- Apticote 100 is a low temperature
electrolytic process which deposits a protective layer of chromium on to the base material
to an extremely high degree of accuracy to produce an attractive hard wearing and low
friction surface.
